You know you're in Mizoram when...(Part 2)

(Part 1 of this post can be found on The Chhamanator blog)

  • The Chief Minister is the self proclaimed unofficial spokesman of the state, who likes to comment on anything and everything without pondering upon the consequences.
  • A great majority of people living in the bigger towns are more concerned about owning a vehicle, rather than a land and a house to call their own.
  • Taking into consideration the per capita income, people have the latest and trendiest mobile phones.
  • Bamboo flowering becomes a great source of corruption.
  • Pastors distribute food to famine victims, while politicians are busy spreading the gospel.
  • Per capita consumption of tobacco is the highest in the country, and could possibly be the highest in the whole world.
  • Roads are repaired only during election years.
  • A quintal bag of rice weighs only 75 kilos.
  • A few number of below poverty line (BPL) families own a fridge, a television set, and sometimes even a second-hand jeep.
  • Certain Laws and Acts become insignificant / inapplicable to a certain section of the population (read MLTP Act etc.).

well, regarding the point u just mentioned, i have been working on it for quite sometime now..but the materials / points i have collected so far are quite debatable as far as i'm concerned..so i need to fine-tune it as i personally would like to avoid unnecessary arguments..till then, keep dropping by..and thanx a lot for ur comments..:)
